By widening access to high quality vocational education and skills, we fuel sustainable and inclusive growth, enhancing the wellbeing of individuals, organisations and the economy. W e are also committed to reducing our emissions associated with our day- to-day activities, in line with the Paris Agreement. We have reduced our operational emissions by 18.5% since 2019, however more needs to be done if we are to keep pace with our emissions reduction targets. Despite the rapid pace of change and uncertainties around us, I remain optimistic that unrelenting focus on our purpose - to help people, organisations and economies to develop their skills for growth – enables us to stand strong in the face of complex challenges, and play our role in creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all. In this report, we share our commitments, progress, challenges and learnings. Not only will this help shape our own actions, we hope that it can support other organisations who share our values to take action too. The Trustee Board and Executive Leadership Team are focussed on three key areas in the long term: Kirstie Donnelly MBE, CEO City & Guilds 18.5% reductions in our operational emissions since 2019 Product: Our objective is to ensure that our products are accessible and inclusive of all stakeholders, meeting the evolving demands of customers and upholding the highest quality standards. People: We are committed to supporting our employees and workers within our supply chains to thrive in fair and inclusive working environments. Planet: We champion a Just Transition by equipping individuals and organisations with the skills needed to thrive in a low-carbon economy, while actively reducing greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and supply chain. £15.3 billion in social and economic value delivered in the UKOur approach is underpinned by our commitment to transparency. That’s why we report our responsible business progress annually in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. In 2024, I’m proud of the progress we made. This includes improvements in our green skills offering, our Diversity Equity & Inclusion Strategy and considerable progress against our emissions reductions. However, we also accept the areas in which we can still improve. This includes ensuring equality of opportunity in accessing skills in an increasingly digital world, whether that is by opening access to skills through the possibilities of technology or by equally thinking about how we serve the digitally excluded – City & Guilds is for everyone. As we cope too with increasing inequity in many countries, whether that is a result of economic or political change, skills are even more important as an agenda for social justice. In a complex and ever-changing world, our relentless pursuit of our purpose - to help people, organisations and economies to develop their skills for growth – enables us to adapt to the needs of our customers and society today and tomorrow. To deliver on our mission and responsible business priorities, our priorities over the next 12 months include widening access to skills and improving our supply chain data; developing a sustainable and diverse approach to procurement. In this report, we share our commitments, progress, challenges and learnings. Not only does this help shape our own actions, we hope that it can inspire and support other organisations who share our values to take positive action too. We are fully committed to being a responsible and ethical business, taking steps to mitigate any potential harm to individuals and the planet in our pursuit of positive social impact.
